🍪 The perfect chocolate chip, designed by a Tesla engineer
Chocolate chips have been wrong for years, and it's time to make it right.
Great chocolate chip cookie recipes typically skip store-bought chocolate chips, and get you to painfully chop up a bar of chocolate. This gives you rich, chunky chocolate bits that’s all gooey and saliva-inducing.
This is not to say that irregularly shaped chocolate is better than chocolate chips when it comes to baking cookies though. Rather, the fault lies with the shape of the conventional chocolate chip.
The droplet-shaped chocolate chip that we’re all familiar with simply isn’t good enough.
So, Remy Labesque decided that this has to change, because the world deserves a great piece of chocolate chip that melts in your mouth with satisfactory decadence.
And so, he embarked on a three year journey with his team.

But wait, who is Remy?
Remy is an engineer. Not just any engineer, but a Tesla engineer. To recreate the perfect chip, Remy and his team sketched in their little notebooks day and night. After all, food boils down to science, and if an engineer can’t solve this, who will?
The best chocolate chip has to taste great, but what does tasting great mean? Remy and his team worked hard, and they finally found the answer.

The solution: A flat, polygonal wafer
A perfect chocolate chip had to optimise the surface area that hits your taste buds. To melt in your mouth, two of its edges, not all mind you, have to be tapered so that the chip is substantial and ‘tall’ enough to not disintegrate in your mouth completely.
The team has solved it, hurray!
As with all innovations, the ability for things to be able to be mass produced is crucial to its sustainability and success.
These diamond-like chips can do just that, and are easy to remove from molds. So, double hurray!

Chocolate chip cookies can now reach a new height with the help of engineers, who knew! I wonder what field they’ll target next? Perhaps tacos? Avocado milkshakes? How about the trusty old lasagna? Or bubble tea? Oh yes, bubble tea.
